Sept. 20 Event to be Held at American Legion in Wharton
Job seekers are invited to meet with more than 30 local employers in the Wharton area at the Borough of Wharton's job fair on Sept. 20 at the American Legion.
(JPG, 3MB)The job fair, Wharton's sixth, is an effort to foster economic recovery in the area. Previous job fairs turned out to be a great success for both companies and applicants.
Join the event at the American Legion Post 91, 99 N. Main St., Wharton on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. This event is open to the public.
"It is common sense to work for businesses in and around your community." A few years back the unemployment rate in Wharton was 14.5%," said Wharton Mayor William Chegwidden.
"We were not going to sit still and not help out our residents. We put together this job fair six years ago and are still holding it annually. We have many residents who are still employed from jobs they secured at our job fair years ago. The current rate of unemployment in Wharton is 4.6% or 68% less than when we started the Job Fair."
We thank Wharton and Mayor Chegwidden for holding this job fair that will connect local and county residents with some of the best employers in Morris County, €˜' said Morris County Freeholder Christine Myers.
