Fall Concerts Present Virtuoso Duos

Morris County Library presents two classical music concerts this fall, featuring Brazilian classical music and Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Schubert.

Flutist Guilherme Andreas and pianist Gianne Ge Zhu

A unique concert entitled The Sound of Brazilian Classical Music will be presented by Brazilian flute virtuoso Guilherme Andreas, and pianist Gianne Ge Zhu, Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. When American audiences think of classical music, European composers likely come to mind. Guilherme and Gianne want to change that by introducing audiences to music by modern and historical Brazilian classical composers. The concert will include music by Pattapio Silva, Ronaldo Miranda, Jose Siqueira, Leopoldo Miguez, Alberto Arantes and Heitor Villa Lobos.

Pianist Jason Wirth and soprano Angela Dinkelman

Schubertiade is the library's second-annual program to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert (1797-1828) on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m. This time around, it's Breakfast at Tiffany's starring€¦Franz Schubert! Everyone's favorite Romantic composer is back from the 1820's to recreate the quintessentially American story from the 1960s. Using Schubert's sweeping melodies, soprano Angela Dinkelman and pianist Jason Wirth will explore the world of Holly Golightly and her cat Cat as they search for love and true happiness amidst the "phoniness" of New York City's Café Society.

Performances will be held in the Public Meeting Room and are free of charge. Performances will run until 4 p.m. Short reception to follow each program (pastries and sparkling water). Doors will open 30 minutes before the start of each program. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact 973-285-6887 for more information or visit the library's information page on the concerts.
