“The face of Morris County’s Community Development Program”

Morris County expressed sorrow today at the passing of Patricia “Pat” Reid, a personal secretary for the Morris County Office of Community Development for the past 38 years who befriended town officials and non-profit leaders alike as she worked with them on various grant applications.

“Pat was a beloved member of our Morris County family. She interacted with every municipality through the Community Development program and left a lasting impression on all she came in contact with. She will be sorely missed,” said Morris County Administrator John Bonanni.

Assistant Morris County Administrator Deena Leary called her “the face of Morris County’s Community Development Program,” noting Reid worked closely with the Community Development Revenue Sharing Committee, a large group of public officials with representation from all 39 Morris County municipalities.

The Community Development Program works with non-profits, government officials and community organizations to funnel grants that help to improve and support a variety of infrastructure projects, social services and facilities development designed to enhance communities. Projects may range from road and water facility improvements to childcare services, housing for low-income families or restoring senior citizen centers.

“Pat Reid was an integral part of the Office of Community Development and her giant smile and enthusiasm will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Her passion for serving Morris County residents was evident in the work completed throughout her 38-year career with Morris County.  Pat’s legacy will live on through the various playgrounds, senior centers and many other collaborations to enrich Morris County communities that she had a hand in helping to create,” said Amy Archer, Director of the Division of Community and Behavioral Health Services at Morris County’s Department of Human Services.

Patricia, 69, had lived in Roxbury Township for many years prior to moving to Wharton, where she has resided for the past nine years.

Her dedication to the Community Development program was evidence in how she lived and in her passing. She would attend a Sunday brunch with a group known as the "work girls" at the Roxbury Diner and she engaged in many community activities, including hosting the annual Community Development Revenue Sharing luncheon meetings for her office.

Her family noted that memorial donations may be made the name of Patricia Reid to the Community Development program.
