Morris County Passport Office Awarded Federal Certificate of Achievement

The passport agents in the Morris County Clerk's Office have received a Certificate of Achievement for 2017 from the U.S. Department of State's National Passport Center, Bureau of Consular Affairs, County Clerk Ann Grossi has announced.

The County Clerk's passport agents underwent a review of the methods and procedures related to the processing of applications for U.S. Passports, and practices and policies mandated by the State Department.

This recognition is well deserved by our passport team, who serve with dedication, professionalism, courtesy and who offer a smile to the many people who visit the office, said County Clerk Ann Grossi, who is the Constitutional Officer in charge of the passport operation. They are the face of county government to many people who visit the County Clerk's Office, and they represent all of us very well.''

Passport agents must take a test and be re-certified annually to perform their duties.

The Morris County Clerk's Passport Office was awarded this prestigious Certificate in recognition of exemplary performance for the Acceptance Facility Oversight visit...'' in which they were among an elite few facilities who received a perfect score in meeting all federal standards. Their accomplishment was recognized in the National Passport Center Bulletin.

(JPG, 30KB)Acceptance Agents for U.S. passports have a key role helping U.S. citizens get passports. They provide residents with passport application forms, help guide them through the passport process for new or renewal passports, handle replacements for lost, stolen or damaged passports; and must thoroughly review applications and verify each applicant's identity.

The Morris County Clerk's Passport Office, directed by Patricia Vassiadis, handled more than 7,000 passport applications in 2017.

The Passport Office has three full-time and eight part-time agents. It operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Tuesdays until 8 p.m. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are always welcome.
