Morris County Pays Tribute to David Cole, Jr.

Longtime MCMUA Employee Fondly Remembered

Morris County mourns the loss of long-time employee David "Dave" Cole, Jr., who passed away earlier this month after providing 31 years of outstanding public service with the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA).

"Dave always completed the work with a big, broad smile across his face. He was a good guy," stated MCMUA Executive Director Larry Gindoff.

Mr. Cole was one of the MCMUA's longest-serving employees, starting as a truck driver for its curbside recycling program in 1992. His dedicated work ethic and commitment to the job earned him a promotion to Supervisor of the Curbside Recycling program. In that position, Mr. Cole played an instrumental role in ensuring residential recycling was picked up at curbsides for thousands of residents every day, week-in and week-out, regardless of the weather, equipment issues or callouts by other employees.

"Whether he was spending time with his family, working for the MCMUA, tending his front lawn, or hosting a barbeque, Mr. Cole always showed tremendous commitment to whatever responsibility was in front of him," continued MCMUA Executive Director Gindoff.

A lifelong Morris County resident, Mr. Cole was a family man who left behind his beloved wife, Laura, whom he married in 2007, and their four children. The loss of Mr. Cole and his leadership will be felt by his family, the MCMUA and the people of Morris County.

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners, during both of its public meetings tonight, held a moment of silence with staff in memory of Mr. Cole after Commissioner Director Krickus provided a few remarks in his honor.

Mr. Cole passed away unexpectedly on April 13 at the young age of 53. Morris County extends its condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
