Work on Quaker Church Road and Randolph Road in Randolph to be Bid

Four county road paving and improvement projects have begun this week, including milling and paving on Highview Avenue in Hanover, and preliminary work on sections of Mendham Road in Mendham Township, Mount Olive/Flanders Road in Mount Olive, and Dover-Rockaway Road in Rockaway Township.

The county also is moving toward construction later this month on sections of Drakesdale Road in Mount Olive, Landing Road and Mt Arlington Blvd. in Roxbury, East Mill Road/Washington Turnpike in Washington and Chester townships, Canfield Avenue in Mine Hill and New Vernon Road in Long Hill.

The first phase of a 1.1 mile milling and paving project has begun on North Passaic Street in Chatham Borough and Florham Park, where curb work is underway. Night paving also has begun on East & West Dewey Avenue and North Main Street in Wharton.

Also, bids have been advertised for work on Quaker Church Road and Randolph Ave in Randolph, the final two 2019 county paving projects, with work expected in late October.

This work is all part of the Board of Freeholders aggressive targeting of some 30 miles of county roads for upgrading this summer and fall. The county roadwork is in addition to local and state road projects.

On the bridge improvement front, work continues on the Crane Road bridge in Mountain Lakes. Bids have been received for the Mill Road Bridge replacement project in Morris Township, and bids have been advertised for the planned East Blackwell Street bridge project in Dover.

In addition, the county expects to move ahead with two more bridge projects this fall: Chestnut Terrace bridge in Rockaway Township and the Waterloo Road bridge at the Netcong and Stanhope border.

We are working hard to keep our commitment to properly maintaining our road and bridge infrastructure in Morris County,'' said Morris County Freeholder Stephen Shaw. We intend to work through the paving season, before the weather turns colder, to complete our list for 2019.''
