Japanese Garden Experts to discuss Ikebana, Bonsai and Composition July 14

Join Morris Parks for an afternoon of beauty, the simplicity of Japanese gardening, flower arranging, and the art of bonsai at Willowwood Arboretum in Chester Township on Sunday, July 14, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Japanese Garden Builder Asher Browne will talk about the concepts, principals, and elements that compose a Japanese garden. Learn various aspects of bringing Japan's beauty to America, and enjoy iced green tea and mochi ice cream following the lecture.

At 2:45 p.m., join Toshio Okimatsu, President of the Ikebono, N.Y., Tachibana Chapter, and discover the 500-year-old art of Ikebana flower design. Similar to poetry, Ikebana expresses both the beauty of flowers and in our heart.

The Great Swamp Bonsai Society will be on site to explain the ancient tradition and techniques of Bonsai. Tour the Woodland Walk, or take a leisurely walk on your own. The cost is $30 per person.
