Morris Plains and Morris Township Shooting Victims Identified

(, 0B)Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp has identified the victims of last Saturday's shooting in Morris County as Laurel R. Chasmar, 28, of Morris Plains and Hassan Shahid, 32, of Jersey City.

The homicide of Chasmar was caused by gunshot wounds inflicted upon her. The suicide of Shahid was caused by a gunshot wound. The findings were made following an investigation conducted by the Morris County Medical Examiner.(JPG, 17KB)

In the early morning hours of Aug. 5, law enforcement responded to the area of The Highlands at Morris Plains Apartments on Buckley Way in Morris Plains following a report of possible gunshots in the area.

The body of Chasmar was found in Morris Plains. Shortly afterwards, the body of Shahid was found nearby in Morris Township.
