Morris Roads: Public Information Session on Busy Randolph Intersection -- May 28

A Public Information Center to inform local residents, officials, businesses and the motoring public of proposed upgrades at the intersection of Center Grove Road (County Route 670) and Quaker Church Road in Randolph Morris County has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 in Randolph.
It is a joint effort led by Morris County, in cooperation with Randolph Township, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration.

The purpose of this session is to discuss the project's progress to date, its purpose and need, and to solicit public comments. The meeting will be held at the Randolph Township municipal building from 6€“8 p.m. A presentation will be made at 6:30 p.m.
Residents are invited to attend this open house, review the displays, ask questions and provide comments. County and support staff will be available to answer questions.
The Local Safety Program was established by the North Jersey Transportation Authority (NJTPA), in conjunction with the NJ DOT, to advance safety improvements on county and local roads within its region. Morris County is receiving Highway Safety Improvement Program funds from the Federal Highway Administration through the Local Safety Program for safety improvements at the intersection of Center Grove Road (CR 670) and Quaker Church Road.
This location was ranked third on a list of high crash intersections prepared by the NJ DOT, utilizing crash data from 2011 to 2013. There were 36 crashes identified during this period including 12 crashes involving injuries. The intersection is in close proximity to Route 10. It currently has eight traffic signal heads, lacks pedestrian countdown timers, and there are no crosswalks across Center Grove Road.
(JPG, 8KB)Proposed improvements include new LED signal heads and mast arms, improved signal phasing and new vehicle detection technology to eliminate conflicting traffic movements and reduce queuing lengths. Pedestrian signals with countdown timers and push buttons will be installed in all directions.
New ADA curb ramps, sidewalk and high visibility crosswalks will be installed along will enhanced lighting. The intersection will be milled and repaved with new pavement markings.
