Right Shoulder to Close for Several Weeks
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced a lane closure on Route 24 westbound in Morris County starting next week to allow for a drainage improvement project on the Morris Township section of the highway.(JPG, 4KB)
Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, June 15, through 3 p.m., each day, NJDOT's contractor, IEW Construction Group, is scheduled to close the right lane on Route 24 westbound before Exit 1B to place a construction barrier to close the right shoulder.
At least one lane and Exit 1B will remain open at all times.
The shoulder closure will create a work zone to repair a damaged drainage pipe underneath the roadway. The shoulder is expected to be closed for approximately three weeks. If work is completed early, the shoulder will be reopened sooner.
Variable Message Signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
