Thirteen Trees to Commemorate Nation’s 250th Anniversary
The public is invited to join the Morris County Park Commission and the New Jersey Arborists Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture for a special tree planting ceremony commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The ceremony will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Central Park of Morris County in Parsippany-Troy Hills, coinciding with Constitution Day, which marks the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787.
Thirteen trees will be planted to represent the original 13 colonies. The trees have been carefully selected to represent each colony while also ensuring the species are well suited to northern New Jersey’s climate and capable of thriving.
The ceremony will include remarks from local and state representatives on the stewardship of the nation’s natural resources and the responsibility of today’s leaders to preserve and care for public parks and green spaces for future generations.
The planting will take place rain or shine. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for outdoor, field conditions.
