The student winners of a clean-community themed poster contest hosted by the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority are Mia Bozic of Valleyview Middle School in Denville and Tanvi Nakirikanti of Brooklawn Middle School in Parsippany.
The winners were announced by the MCMUA's Liz Sweedy, Morris County Clean Communities Coordinator, and Christine Scano, program manager.
The annual poster contest is an educational litter abatement component of the Morris County Clean Communities program. Students in grades 5-12 in Morris County schools are welcome to participate. Winning posters are replicated onto recycling containers and donated to the student’s school.

A second litter abatement project offers a grant for those schools that participate in a litter cleanup of school properties. Upon completion, participating schools receive a $600 grant to be used for indoor recycling containers, outdoor recycling and trash containers, or to put towards the purchase of a bottle-filling station, in order to reduce the number of single-use plastic water bottles. Applications are due by May 1, 2021.
