Published on January 03, 2021

Mixed Precipitation Expected Throughout the Day

The Morris County Office of Emergency Management issued a winter weather advisory that went into effect at 7 a.m this morning and will remain in place until 1 a.m., Monday, Jan 4.

The current data from weather service partners suggests that we will see mixed precipitation through the morning that will increase throughout the day. Precipitation is expected to diminish through the evening and end by early tomorrow morning.

Rainfall amounts are estimated at 0.35 to 0.50 inches and snowfall is believed to be a scattered coating, 0.5 to 1 inch. At the time of this report, we are experiencing a mix of sleet and snow in portions of Morris County and we are expecting freezing rain as well. We do anticipate slippery road conditions with the precipitation involving a mixture of freezing rain and sleet, before transitioning to plain rain by this afternoon. Another brief transition to snow is possible tonight before the system exits. Stay safe.
