Morris County Veterans Services Office

The Morris County Veterans Services Office provides information and assistance to discharged Morris County veterans and their families in obtaining VA benefits and entitlements.

As a courtesy to the courageous men and women that have served in our military, the Morris County Clerk’s Office is proud to offer complementary services to honorably discharged veterans.

Distinguished Military Service Medal

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners wishes to commemorate all veterans who served honorably in the United States Military by presenting the Distinguished Military Service Medal to eligible Morris County Residents.

Veterans ID Card

Morris County Veterans ID Cards are perfect for those who may not have a driver’s license or may just want an additional form of identification. They can also be used as a way to enjoy discounts at many participating Morris County businesses.

Sample Veterans ID Card. Shows name, address, date of birth, branch of service, and date of discharge.

To obtain a Morris County Veteran’s ID Card, you must provide the following:

One form of identification proving Morris County residency
Original or certified copy of the long form discharge document, such as the DD 214

This service is free of charge for all honorably discharged Morris County veterans in appreciation of their service in protecting our citizens and our country.

To obtain any type of Morris County ID Card, visit the Morris County Clerk's Office at 10 Court St, Morristown, any time from 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday and Thursdays are available by appointment only - call 973-285-6120.

Mental Health Services

Are you a veteran, or a family member of a veteran? You are eligible for free mental health services from Morris County and the Mental Health Association.

Veterans and their family members can contact us for the following services:

Psychotherapy
Group counseling
Support groups
Psycho-educational groups for families and friends
Case management, including linkages and referrals

All services provided by the Mental Health Association are grant-funded and free to veterans and their families. (Linkages to other services, such as medical appointments, may have a cost.)

Veterans Organizations

American Legion

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

American Veterans of Washington Township, Post 1776

American Veterans of Washington Township logo The American Veterans Association of Washington Township is a stand-alone non-profit organization from Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey, with a purpose of keeping the service and history of Veterans “alive”. The American Veterans Association of Washington Township regularly speaks to local student classes about their first-hand experiences in the military from WWII to the present.

Blinded Veterans Association

Blinded Veterans Association logo The Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) is an organization of blinded veterans helping blinded veterans. Founded in 1945, BVA has been helping blinded vets ever since. Although chartered by the U.S. Congress, BVA receives no government funds.

Marine Corps League

Marine Corps League logo Members of the Marine Corps League join in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving traditions, promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. Today, membership stands at more than 1.6 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary.

Vietnam Veterans of America

Vietnam Veterans of America’s (VVA’s) goals are to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans. VVA strives to make sure that those who serve our country receive the care and respect they have earned.
