Law Enforcement Agencies Conclude Investigation of Suspicious Package at Denville School
Published on November 14, 2013
Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Township of Denville Police Chief Christopher Wagner announce the results of an investigation that occurred at Lakeview Elementary School, 44 Cooper Road in Denville, New Jersey which took place earlier today.
The Denville Police Department received a call this morning regarding the discovery of a suspicious package at the school.
The school was closed shortly thereafter and the students were safely evacuated.
Arrangements were made for the students to be transported safely to their homes. Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspicious package was a box used to carry souvenirs from a recent field trip to a local mine.
Markings on the box caused school officials to be concerned.
The school will reopen tomorrow.
Acting Prosecutor Knapp and Chief Wagner thank the Township of Denville Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Morris County Park Police, the Randolph Township Police Department, the K9 Units from Bergen County, Union County, Somerset County, the New Jersey State Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Homeland Security Unit.
Any inquiries can be directed to First Assistant Morris County Prosecutor/SDAG Thomas Zelante at 973-285-6252 or
