MCPO Receives Official Re-Accreditation Award from NJSACOP

Published on November 10, 2022

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll and Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker announce that on November 9, 2022 the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office received the official re-accreditation award from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) at the Morris County Commissioners meeting.  Prosecutor Carroll and Chief Kimker accepted the award from Harry J. Delgado, who serves as the NJSACOP Accreditation Program Manager.  The issuance of this official award follows the Accreditation Board Meeting held on June 16, 2022 where Board Members unanimously approved re-accreditation of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.   Initially accredited in 2013, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has now received its third re-accreditation award.

The NJSACOP Accreditation Program currently consists of one hundred and twelve (112) professional standards, many of which have multiple objectives.  These standards address five (5) primary areas, which include Administration, Personnel, Operations, Investigative, and Arrestee functions.  The re-accreditation process involves a (3) year in depth self-analysis of agency operations to ensure that policies and performance are current and consistent with best practices for law enforcement in the state of New Jersey.  At the conclusion of this period, a team of independent assessors from the NJSACOP conduct off-site and on-site audits of agency operations to validate that performance is consistent with professional standards.  To become re-accredited, the assessors must approve office policies, and verify through definitive proof of adherence to those policies.

Prosecutor Carroll stated, “It is incumbent upon law enforcement to evolve in tandem with the changes and demands in our communities and society, and the NJSACOP accreditation process certainly lends itself to this goal.  As the Prosecutor of Morris County, it is rewarding that independent auditors have endorsed the performance of our office, which is a clear testament to the professional men and women of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office who serve the residents of Morris County every day.”
