Equine Information
On June 26, 2008, the SADC adopted rules that expand the list of protected activities under the Right to Farm Act (RTF Act). The list now includes equine-related service activities and complementary equine activities. The SADC also adopted an Agricultural Management Practice (AMP) for equine operations. Owners and operators of equine facilities must comply with the AMP if they wish to be eligible for the protections of the RTF Act. The new rules also specify what income can be used to satisfy the income requirements of the RTF Act (the income requirement is part of the definition of a “commercial farm”).
Although one had been proposed, the SADC did not adopt a rule that would regulate equine activities on preserved farmland.
