Local Safety Action Plan

Morris County worked with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority to create a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP) for Morris County. Data was collected and local input was sought, and a committee guided the development of the plan. The resultant report has identified areas of concern and potential solutions but know that this is an early step and prior to any action being taken, municipal coordination would take place, and public input would be gathered. This document serves as only a tool but is important in that the effort makes the county and the municipalities eligible for additional grant opportunities through the U.S. Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program. Please note that the eligibility criteria for this grant program may change year to year.

This plan was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners at its September 24, 2025 meeting.

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners this week approved a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP), a strategic framework developed with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) to improve roadway safety and reduce fatal and serious injury crashes across the county.
