The County of Morris has fully reopened Gaston Road in Morris Township, after completing a county-funded bridge replacement project about three weeks ahead of schedule and within budget. Construction on the Gaston Road Bridge, located about midway along Gaston Road, began on March 2, 2026, requiring closure of the road to through-traffic between Washington Valley Road and Sussex Turnpike. Beginning on Monday, April 6, Millbrook Avenue will be closed between Quaker Church Road and South Morris Street in the Township of Randolph for gas main installation. Work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is expected to continue through early July, weather permitting. The roadway will reopen at the end of each workday. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) in partnership with Morris County is investigating alternatives to eliminate the height restriction on NJ Transit's Morristown Line between Denville and Morristown that restricts the movement of Plate “F” Railcars to the Whippany Line. The Morris County Board of County Commissioners this week approved a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP), a strategic framework developed with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) to improve roadway safety and reduce fatal and serious injury crashes across the county.
