Beginning February 15, 2026, service on all NJ Transit rail lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line (ACRL) will experience temporary schedule adjustments for approximately four weeks to accommodate Amtrak’s critical work to transfer one track of rail service onto the new Portal North Bridge. The modified train schedules include some train consolidations or cancellations, and others with changed departure times and/or stopping patterns. Morris County began paving operations during the week of 11/3 on Sussex Turnpike between Randolph and Morristown, with one lane of traffic to remain open throughout the project. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) in partnership with Morris County is investigating alternatives to eliminate the height restriction on NJ Transit's Morristown Line between Denville and Morristown that restricts the movement of Plate “F” Railcars to the Whippany Line.
