Many changes are occurring in the fire service that affects the role and duties of firefighters across the country.  These changes include Structural Firefighting Technology and Tactics, Incident Command Systems, Homeland Security, WMD Responses, and new NJ State regulations just to name a few.  It is the commitment of this academy to be at the forefront of these changes.  By providing the most recent and up to date training, we feel the firefighters who attend this academy have the skills and knowledge to perform their jobs efficiently, effectively and most importantly, SAFELY.

The staff of instructors here at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy are some of the best in the region and are committed to making sure every student leaves our training facility as prepared as they can be for the job ahead.

The 2024 training catalog of courses we feel meets the needs of the Morris County Fire and Emergency Services Community, as well as many out of county emergency services that utilize our facility. Please take note of the many courses available upon request. If there is a course or class you do not see listed and have an interest in, please contact the fire training coordinator.

As in past years, the Orientation session for the Fire Fighter 1 recruits is MANDATORY with the recruits receiving their course materials, first assignments, and requirements for successful completion of the course. It is strongly encouraged that the sending department Chief or designated officer attend this Orientation session to understand what is expected of their recruit(s) along with assisting them with the completion of various documentation. We also recommend that the Chief or designated officer advise the recruit of the physically demanding and academically challenging requirements of the Fire Fighter 1 program.  IF A RECRUIT DOES NOT ATTEND ORIENTATION THEY WILL NOT BE ENROLLED INTO THE FIREFIGHTER 1 CLASS AND AN ALTERNATE WILL TAKE THEIR PLACE.

In addition to the above, all recruits are required to attend the physical agility session prior to the first day of class. (The date will be provided at orientation.)

The entire staff here at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy would like to thank you for your continued and dedicated support every year. If you should have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Fire Training Coordinator, Chief Matthew P. Piserchio, Jr. at 973-285-2944 or by email at [email protected]
