About Us

We secure funding for road, bridge, railroad, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. We also plan, design, and coordinate transportation projects.

Engineering staff:
  • designs, constructs, re-constructs, and paves county roads
  • bridge and culvert construction, drainage, and repair specifications
  • designs and constructs County building facilities and traffic signals on County roads

Transportation staff:
  • conduct studies and coordinate planning efforts with state agencies, municipalities, county departments, and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority
  • supervise three county-owned freight railroads

The Morris County Board of Transportation advises the Division on its activities. It's appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Morris Avenue Bridge Deck Replacement Begins 8/6

Morris Avenue in Denville Township will be closed to through traffic for the replacement of the bridge deck on the Morris Avenue Bridge over Beaver Brook. Construction is scheduled to begin on or about Thursday, Aug. 6, with work taking place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. during regular business days Monday through Friday. Three Rivers Drive Bridge Replacement Begins 8/3

Three Rivers Drive in Jefferson Township will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 3, after the morning rush hour, for the replacement of the Three Rivers Drive Bridge over Weldon Brook.The bridge closure will require motorists to follow a signed detour of approximately 2.5 miles via Bowling Green Parkway, Route 15, Espanong Road and Venetian Drive. Frank Street Bridge Replacement Begins Monday, July 27

Following morning rush hour, Frank Street in Mine Hill Township will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, July 27, for the replacement of the Frank Street Bridge over Shaw's Creek. The bridge closure will require motorists to follow a signed detour of approximately one-half mile via Dickerson Mine Road, Martin Place, Roxbury Drive and Ward Place. Millbrook Avenue Closure in Randolph for Gas Main Installation

Beginning on Monday, April 6, Millbrook Avenue will be closed between Quaker Church Road and South Morris Street in the Township of Randolph for gas main installation. Work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is expected to continue through early July, weather permitting. The roadway will reopen at the end of each workday. East Hanover Avenue Bridge Rail Clearance Project - Public Comment Period

The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) in partnership with Morris County is investigating alternatives to eliminate the height restriction on NJ Transit's Morristown Line between Denville and Morristown that restricts the movement of Plate “F” Railcars to the Whippany Line. The first public meeting was held on October 14, and comments are accepted through November 14. Review the meeting materials and submit comments on the Project Website.

Local Safety Action Plan Adopted by Morris County Commissioners

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners this week approved a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP), a strategic framework developed with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) to improve roadway safety and reduce fatal and serious injury crashes across the county.
