Mosquito-Borne Diseases

Mosquito borne diseases are illnesses spread by the bite of an infected mosquito.

We collect adult mosquitoes and submit them to the state of New Jersey for disease testing. 

Common Mosquito-Borne Diseases in NJ

West Nile Virus (WNV) is a disease spread to humans, birds, horses and other animals, by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes get the disease from infected birds and pass it on to other animals while taking a blood meal.

Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) is a rare but serious viral infection spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. It can affect humans, horses and some birds.

Dog Heartworm is a disease common in dogs throughout most of the United States. A parasitic roundworm (nematode) that lives its adult life in the heart and large vessels of the lungs.
