Veterans Compendium Project

Every Soldier. Every History.

Inspired by a local veteran who shared memories of his Naval service during World War II and reflected with the solemn words, “It doesn’t matter, history will forget us,” this initiative was created to ensure the stories and sacrifices of Morris County’s veterans are preserved and remembered for future generations.

The goal is simple: collect and display the stories of Morris County’s combat soldiers and sailors online in honor of their military service and sacrifice.

The program encourages continued public participation and welcomes submissions to ensure these stories are preserved. Veterans from any branch of the U.S. military who were born in Morris County or resided in the county for at least 10 years are eligible for listing in the compendium.

Since the publication of the Morris County Veterans Compendiums, individuals from across the county and around the world have contributed additional historical information and personal accounts, helping to expand and enrich the online archive.

We are currently working on a page about Morris County's Afghanistan War veterans.  If you’d like to contribute to this project, or have additional information/photos, corrections, notice omissions about one of the above projects, email Jan Williams at jwilliams@co.morris.nj.us .
